Information for Persons with Disabilities
NCME encourages persons with disabilities to attend the Annual Meeting. Most hotels are accessible to the disabled. To reserve a hotel room better suited to meet the needs of the disabled, please indicate your needs in the appropriate space on the Housing Request Form. Individuals with a disability should check the appropriate box on the registration form and attach a note outlining specific needs to make the meeting more accessible. This includes participants who may need interpreting assistance or any other special assistance. A note from a physician may be requested in extraordinary circumstances.
Child Care
Services will be provided by KiddieCorp at the Hilton New York for children of all ages, from infants to adolescents. The Child Care Center’s experienced staff will include an on-site supervisor. The organization is licensed, bonded, and insured. Nutritious snacks and beverages along with age-appropriate toys, games, movies, and cartoons will be provided. Ratios of staff to children are 1 to 2 for infants, 1 to 3 for toddlers, and 1 to 5 for school age children.
The Child Care Center will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Monday, March 24, and from 8:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25 to Thursday, March 27. On Friday, March 28, it will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. To ensure the center is properly staffed and to facilitate planning games and other activities for the children, advance registration is required. On-site registration may be possible, at a slightly higher cost, if space is available.
If you are interested in receiving further information and the registration form, mark the appropriate space on the Advance Registration Form. You can also contact KiddieCorp directly at 1-858-455-1718. Rates are included with the materials you will receive. The deadline for child-care registration is March 2, 2008. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
Tours
AERA has arranged for a wonderful selection of tours to be made available to NCME and AERA meeting attendees. To learn more about these tours, please visit AERA's website (http://www.AERA.net) for a full description of the tours and their prices.
Register Early!
Securing your hotel reservations early is strongly advised if you want to obtain a reservation at the hotel of your choice. Although a large block of rooms have been made available, these rooms may disappear rapidly, as New York City is a very popular destination for meeting attendees.
