General Information
NCME Program and Supplement
An on-line, downloadable version of the program will be posted in February In addition, printed versions of the program will be mailed to registered attendees in February. Printed programs will not be mailed to late registrants; this includes individuals residing in the United States who register after February 13, 2008, and individuals with non-U.S. addresses who register after January 30, 2008
Late registrants may pick up a copy of the program and the program supplement on-site in the AERA/NCME registration area at the San Diego Convention Center or at the NCME information area at the Hard Rock Hotel.
The Program Supplement, which may contain important changes, additions and corrections to the program will be distributed on-site.
Airfare
AERA has arranged discount airfares for 2009 AERA Annual Meeting registrants with American Airlines, Continental Airlines and United Airlines. Inquiries regarding travel arrangements should be directed to the airlines through their special meeting desk lines. American Airlines may be contacted at 800-433-1790. Reference the AERA American Airlines file number A9249AI. Continental Airlines may be contacted at 1-800-468-7022. Reference the AERA Continental Airlines file code ZF2S and Agreement Code BBMQNH. United Airlines may be contacted at 1-800-521-404. Reference the AERA United Airlines file number 585FG If you normally use the services of a travel agent, have the agent place your reservations through the toll-free numbers for the airlines to obtain the same advantages for you.
Amtrak
AERA also made special arrangements with Amtrak Railways for those taking the railway system to San Diego. This travel service is only available for travel within the United States. Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to and from San Diego, CA between April 10, 2009 to April 20, 2009. No other discounts will apply To book your reservation call Amtrak at 1-800-872-7245. You cannot book your reservation via the internet, you must call 1-800-872-7245, and refer to AERA's convention fare code X64U-948 when making your reservation. This offer is not valid on the Auto Train and Acela Service Fare is valid on Amtrak Regional for all departures seven days a week.
Information for Persons with Disabilities
The American Educational Research Association is committed to offering an accessible environment for persons with disabilities. The Association strives to support persons with special needs while they are attending the Annual Meeting Most hotels are accessible to the disabled. Please check the appropriate box on the Registration Form, and indicate your room request in the Housing section of the form, to specify special ADA needs. This includes participants who may need interpreting assistance or any other special assistance. A note from a physician may be requested under extreme circumstances. Attendees with special needs are also encouraged to visit the Disability Assistance (ADA) Services Desk located at Registration in the Sails Pavilion at the San Diego Convention Center should the need arise. In addition, during the Annual Meeting, persons with disabilities who desire a place to relax are invited to visit the AERA Comfort Rooms located at the San Diego Convention Center and the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina Specialized reading devices for visually impaired attendees will be available.
Child Care
Services for child care will be provided by KiddieCorp for children of all ages, from infants to adolescents and will be located at the San Diego Convention Center. The Child Care Center's experienced staff will include an on-site supervisor. KiddieCorp is licensed, bonded, and insured. Nutritious snacks and beverages along with age-appropriate toys, games, movies, and cartoons will be provided. Ratios of staff to children are 1 to 2 for infants, 1 to 3 for toddlers, and 1 to 5 for school age children. The fee for this service is ($10) ten dollars an hour per child.
The Child Care Center will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on the first day of the Annual Meeting (Monday, April 13), and from 8:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on subsequent days except for the last day (Friday, April 17), when it will close at 3:45 p.m. To ensure the center is properly staffed and to facilitate planning games and other activities for the children, advance registration is required. On-site registration may be possible, at a slightly higher cost, if space is available.

Secure Your Room Early!
Securing your hotel reservations early is strongly advised if you want to obtain a reservation at the hotel of your choice. Although a large block of rooms have been made available, these rooms may disappear rapidly, as San Diego is a very popular destination for meeting attendees.
