President's Message June 2025

By Cheng Hua posted 9 days ago

Dear NCME Members,

Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback on my initial thoughts about where to focus efforts in the year ahead to best support our community. Your perspectives are invaluable as I continue to review this input and finalize priorities. If you haven’t yet had a chance to weigh in, please feel free to reach out—I’m still listening.

It’s been a productive start to the NCME year, and I’m pleased to share a few key highlights from the past month:

Board of Directors Update

The Board held its first meeting of the new NCME year, focusing on organizing for the months ahead. We reviewed plans for the Fall 2025 AIME-Con (don’t forget—proposals are due June 15), discussed the 2026 Annual Meeting (more details below), considered a proposed 2026 Classroom Assessment Conference, and discussed the transition to a new management company (see the update from Rich Patz below for more on that).

Support for Those Seeking Employment

I had the pleasure of facilitating a reprise of “The Where, What, and How of the Job Market for Measurement Professionals”—a thoughtful panel featuring Masa Bertling, Jodi Casabianca, Wendy Christensen, Karoline Jarr, Dena Pastor, and Zach Warner. Thank you to all the panelists for offering practical advice and insight. The recording and slides are now available — please reach out to me or any of the panelists with questions. And don’t forget: job postings in the NCME Career Center are free through the end of 2025!

BRIDGE Webinar Series

NCME is collaborating with AEFP, SREE, and APPAM on the BRIDGE (Boosting Researchers in a Dynamic Governing Environment) webinar series. The first session, “Independent Consulting as a Career,is coming soon—see details below and be sure to register. Interested in collaborating on a future webinar? I’d love to hear from you.

Support for the Revision of the Standards

The Standards and Test Use Committee has been hard at work supporting the revision of the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. Please take a moment to check out their important progress (See later in the newsletter).

Mark Your Calendars!

The 2026 NCME Annual Meeting will take place in Los Angeles, CA, from April 8 to 11. Program Co-Chairs Pamela Kaliski and Stefanie Wind, along with Training Program Co-Chairs Joe Grochowalski and Wenchao Ma, and GSIC Co-Chairs Kayla Burt and Claudia Ventura, will soon release the Call for Proposals, with submissions due on September 12.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support. I look forward to all we’ll accomplish together in the year ahead.

With gratitude,

Amy Hendrickson
