Cognitively Diagnostic Analyses Using R

This event is being organized by the NCME Diagnostic Measurement SIGIMIE.

This workshop aims to equip participants with practical experience in using cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs) in applied settings. Participants will work with real datasets from various fields such as education, psychology, and social sciences. They will learn to use the GDINA R package for a range of CDM analyses, including model specification, estimation, and evaluation. Some theoretical foundations for these analyses will also be discussed to ensure proper understanding and application of CDMs. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the skills to conduct various CDM analyses and apply these methods to their own research.

This workshop is designed for individuals who have some familiarity with CDMs and want to enhance their skills in using R for CDM analyses. By the end of the session, participants will be able to conduct a range of CDM analyses using the GDINA package.

Presenter:

Wenchao Ma is an Associate Professor and the American Guidance Service Inc. and John P. Yackel Professor in Educational Assessment and Measurement at The University of Minnesota. His research focuses on the development of advanced psychometric methods, such as CDMs, and their applications in education, psychology, and social sciences. He is a recipient of the 2017 Bradley Hanson Award for Contributions to Educational Measurement and the 2021 Jason Millman Promising Measurement Scholar Award from the National Council on Measurement in Education. Wenchao Ma is also the maintainer and the lead developer of the GDINA R package.
