Shxwsíyaye sqwal and Namaste (Greetings in Halq’eméylem and Hindi, respectively)

It is with immense gratitude I acknowledge with respect that I live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil Waututh), and sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Coast Salish First Nations Peoples, who are the primordial stewards of the city of Vancouver and its municipalities. I recognize the ongoing colonialism and racism against Indigenous Peoples and so as a humble, uninvited second-generation settler of these stolen lands I am committed to following the recommendations outlined in Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission report, learning with an open heart and mind, and working collaboratively to decolonize our systems and to help build an equitable and anti-racist future.

I am an independent psychometric consultant with over 10 years of experience in the field of educational & psychological testing.  I conduct a range of operational and research-based psychometric services and provide expert advice on assessment issues to diverse clients from industries ranging from public health and medical science to information technology, HR consulting and academia. Having been trained as a researcher I implement the scientist-practitioner approach to my work, by employing best practices in psychometrics, staying up to date on the latest research in the field, engaging in research to continuously improve my practice, and following recommended guidelines established by the Standards in Educational and Psychological Testing (AERA, APA, & NCME, 2014).  I am an active member of the National Council on Measurement in Education's Diversity Issues and Testing committee as well as the American Educational Research Association Division D's Equity and Inclusion committee.  I am also one of the associate editors of the Assessment, Testing, and Applied Measurement section of the Frontiers in Education open-source Journal.

I adopt an equity-centered lens in my work to ensure assessments are equitable, fair, anti-racist, and culturally sustainable.
