The NCME Publications Committee is seeking nominations for Editor of the NCME Newsletter for issues to be published from 2021-2023. The Editor appointment is for a three-year term beginning January 2021 through December 2023.

Over the past three years, the Newsletter has evolved from a print-based publication, a pdf document that is posted to the NCME website, to a fully digital format. While some efforts have been made to take advantage of this new format (e.g., the inclusion of video and/or podcast content), NCME is expecting that the incoming editor would extend these efforts by exploring additional ways that the online format might be optimized. The new editor may also develop new strategies for selecting the content to ensure that it fully represents the diverse community of NCME members (e.g., diversity of fields, career paths, and demographics).

Major responsibilities of the Editor:

  • Appoint Newsletter Advisory Board members.

  • Select and mentor a graduate student columnist (or set of columnists) each year.

  • Plan/solicit content for each issue, including regular columns and feature articles.

  • Review and edit content for the Newsletter including evaluating submissions for timeliness, accuracy, interest level, and importance to the NCME membership.

  • Format the Newsletter for electronic publication and distribute to the membership.

  • Communicate with the NCME President, Board of Directors, and committee chairs to identify and summarize newsworthy association activities.

  • Maintain information on photo permissions.

Nominations should explain how the individual is qualified to perform the duties of the NCME Newsletter Editor and include the candidate’s Curriculum Vitae. Self-nominations are welcome. Please send nominations to Susan Davis-Becker (Co-Chair, Publications Committee): sdavisbecker@acsventures.com

The NCME Board of Directors will make the appointment by June 1, 2020. The appointed individual will begin shadowing the current editor in July 2020.

The deadline for nominations is May 1, 2020.
